Biola Organic Cosmetics Ltd. was originally founded as BIOMED in 1990 by current CEO and lead developer, Dr. Viola Gyovai, PhD. At that time, the company undertook research and development for other companies. In 2007, under the name of Biola Naturcosmetics, it started developing its own high quality natural and organic cosmetics. The company's current name, chosen to best reflect its activities, was registered on 18 July 2011. Key stakeholders are CEO and Head Developer Dr. Viola Gyovai, microbiologist in cosmetics for over 28 years and Candidate of the Hungarian Academy of Science; Vice-CEO Dr. Zoltán Kalmár; and Csaba Pölös, Compliance Manager.
Main services
Biola Organic Cosmetics produces premium quality organic and natural skin care products for both professional and home use. We offer full face-care treatment plans for all skin types, plus some body treatments, in addition to providing training in the proper application of the professional range. Our product line includes more than 140 natural, organic and Demeter biodynamic products, including the new Orgalys Biodynamic Demeter bodycare range for home use; Naturissimo, natural certified cosmetics for both home and professional use; and Biola Organic Skincare, similarly for home and professional use. We also offer aromatic oils for use, for example, in saunas.
Unique selling points
As certified by Hungarian organic standards owner, Biokontroll Hungária, our certified premium quality assures over 95 per cent organic ingredients in our organic skincare line, with more than 70 per cent for shampoos and shower gels. Putting this into perspective, the European Standard as required by international certification body COSMOS-standard AISBL is only 20 per cent. To date, our certified organic product line is the first and only one manufactured in Hungary, with all our products developed and produced in our family owned plant. In the main, ingredients are sourced locally in Hungary from organic and Demeter certified farms, although some are imported from similar farms worldwide. Our products contain no petrochemicals, no synthetics or preservatives and are not tested on animals.
Where in the world
Currently we distribute our own brand in six countries throughout Europe and during 2012 will be working to establish a stronger presence in France, Germany and Italy. Leading resorts supplied include the 5* Spirit Hotel in Sarvar, Hungary, a Best Destination Spa award winner in 2010, and we are in talks with others.
New products for 2012
This year will see the launch of Orgalys® certified biodynamic bodycare products, a new brand and personal care line which can be integrated into professional treatments.
The Biola certified organic skincare range will see the addition of a new Organic Pomegranate product family of face treatments; products and a treatment plan for men's face care; and an organic anti-ageing full body treatment.
We will also be working on an organic grape-based product line for wine region hotels and spas.
