Voya releases Cancer Wellness Training for spa therapists

Irish marine spa and skincare brand Voya is offering a new Cancer Wellness Training Programme as part of its in-house spa Training Academy offering.

Voya has launched the course to ensure that as many people affected by cancer as possible have access to safe and effective treatments within spas.

Recent evidence has suggested one in two people born after 1970 in the UK are going to be touched by cancer, and that 60 per cent of both cancer patient cases and recurrent cancer cases are preventable by lifestyle choices.

‘‘Here at Voya, we believe when someone has been touched by cancer they should be
able to have the same deeply relaxing spa experience as anyone else,” said Mark Walton, managing director.

“We want to help more people release stress and worry at a time where they’re already dealing with physical and emotional stress, so our training centre has worked closely with leaders in cancer wellness and designed a programme to help spas integrate and suitably adapt all Voya treatments.”

The training
Voya says its new training equips therapists with the skills and knowledge to adapt treatments for and accommodate clients going through any form of cancer treatment or recovery.

The training programme can be applied to adapt all Voya treatments, including facials, scrubs, wraps, massages and seaweed baths. The rituals have also been created to accommodate those in remission.

Therapists who complete the training course will have the option to add a CIBTAC international accreditation to their qualifications.

Hybrid approach
Voya’s training team offers a flexible mix of adaptable training pathways for their spa partners.

Training options range from self-guided online training – compelted in the therapist’s own time frame – to a two- or four-day onsite training course.

Pricing starts at US$500 (£410, €484) per therapist or US$2,400 (£1,967, €2,322) for a group of six-10 people.
