The Dior Institut launches Christian Dior-inspired treatment to celebrate 10 year anniversary
By Lauren Heath-Jones 27 Sep 2019
The Dior Institut, the spa at the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris, France, has developed a new treatment, inspired by renowned designer Christian Dior, to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
Called the Quintessence 10 Face Treatment, the 90-minute ritual costs €330 (£292, $360) and consists of 10 'exceptional moments' designed to leave the skin toned and refined while immersing guests in an ultra-luxurious experience.
The ritual begins with The Olfactory Ceremony, where guests experience the House of Dior's 'olfactory universe' and select a fragrance which is then used throughout their treatment. Consultants then perform a skin analysis, using the Dior Skin Analyser, a Dior exclusive, which identifies the client's skincare needs and provides a customised skin diagnosis.
The treatment itself begins with a back, neck and shoulder massage, that is designed to place guests in a deeply relaxed state, as well as boost circulation. This is followed by the Dior Micro-Abrasion with Sapphire Crystals, a Dior signature featuring a vibrating and oscillating facial tool, set with sapphire particles, that exfoliates the skin and encourages cell regeneration.
Dior Prestige La Micro-Huile de Rose, a serum-oil-hybrid that delivers more than 20 micro-nutrients, including vitamin E and omega 3, to the skin, is then applied before the Dior Prestige La Creme Cataplasm, a luxurious cream that contains nectar to rebuild the skin's 'cellular architecture' for smoother and more even skin. A warm, damp gauze mask is placed over the cream to create a thermo-active facial experience.
Once the mask is removed, a tissue facial massage is performed. Therapists use deep, enveloping movements to relax the facial muscles and encourage drainage and decongestion. Clients are then treated to an eye massage, which targets pressure points and uses smoothing motions to relieve tension, leaving the eyes with a brighter appearance. A light touch of makeup completes the experience.
Ichrak Laddem, spa director at The Dior Institut, said: "Quintessence 10 was created for our tenth anniversary. It reveals and celebrates beauty, and was inspired by Christian Dior, who used to come to the Plaza Athénée to sketch."
