Thailand’s Chiva-Som resort restyled after five-year refurbishment project
By Megan Whitby 18 Nov 2019
Chiva-Som International Health Resort in Hua Hin, Thailand, has completed a THB800million (US$24m, €21m, £19m) renovation project, which has seen resort accommodation, facilities and public areas redesigned, after five years.
The renovation has been completed in four phases over a five year period.
The 24-year-old wellness resort recently saw the completion of the fourth and final stage of a top-to-toe renovation which focused on the health and wellness area, the bathing pavillion, Niranlada Medi-Spa and its seaside restaurant – The Taste of Siam.
CEO, Krip Rojanastien, said: “Embarking on such a transformation was a major commitment, but the time was right to ensure the ‘hardware’ is in place to take Chiva-Som into a new era of wellness”.
The resort now has a 1,720sq m spa area and 2,705sq m health and wellness space.
The designers have created new signature interiors for Chiva-Som’s spa – featuring teak, Thai silk, and bamboo – which are complemented by a light colour palette to create a comfortable and calming environment.
Now complete, the health and wellness area has had a light and airy makeover, while the spa and physio treatment rooms, hydrotherapy suite and flotation chamber have all been updated with new materials and colours.
The bathing pavilion has a new sunbed area under a glass roof and a hydrotherapy pool, steam room equipment and larger changing areas have also been added.
The spa and physiotherapy rooms have been refined and now feature a hydrotherapy suite and flotation chamber.
The Niranalada Medi-spa has also been redesigned to offer a warm and welcoming space.
The medi-spa is home to the facial analysis room which uses the Visia Skin Analysis system to produce reports of guest’s facial skin condition including spots, textures, pores, red areas, porphyrins and UV spots.
Chiva-Som has also recently announced 2020 plans for a wellness resort in Qatar, called Zulal Wellness resort.
