Hong Kong-based luxury operator, Langham Hospitality Group will open a new hotel and spa in Venice in 2023, marking the brand’s first property in Italy.
With its direct frontage on the Venetian Lagoon, the 138-key hotel will be located on the island of Murano, known for its centuries-old tradition of glass making.
The Langham, Venice will be home to one of the group’s signature Chuan Spas, billed to provide luxury wellness therapies and treatments based on the ancient healing philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), inspired by nature’s five elements.
The hotel will be housed in an original 16th-century historic building which is described as an important illustration of Venetian architecture enriched by important frescoes with classical themes dedicated to music, poetry and love.
Milan-based architecture and design studio, Matteo Thun & Partners, known for embracing sustainability ideals and aesthetic simplicity, has been appointed to oversee the extensive renovations.
“Venice remains one of the world’s leading leisure destinations and we’re delighted to have found such an exceptional site on which to develop our first hotel in Italy,” said Stefan Leser, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group.
Design inspiration for the guest rooms and public spaces will incorporate modern amenities and be inspired by the splendid details in the hotel’s rich history, frescoes, and breathtaking water views from its lagoon frontage.
A defining architectural feature of The Langham will be a courtyard showcasing an outdoor swimming pool and manicured garden, as well as outdoor dining spaces.
Additional facilities include a fully-equipped fitness centre, ballroom and multifunctional event rooms.
The Langham, Venice is part of Langham’s European expansion strategy and joins the flagship The Langham, London and The Langham Nymphenburg Residence, Munich.
Among the 30 future pipeline locations are Langham hotels and residences in Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, San Francisco, Jakarta, Gold Coast, and Chengdu.
