Montage planning for alpine wellness sanctuary in Montana’s Rocky Mountains |
|
By Megan Whitby 20 Jan 2021 |
The location will have easy access to the US' second-largest ski resort – called Big Sky Resort – offering 5,800 skiable acres

In November 2021, Montage is scheduled to open a deluxe 150-key alpine ski resort in Montana complete with a comprehensive alpine wellness sanctuary.
Spa Business spoke to Montage VP of spa and retail, Patrick Huey, for more details about plans for the ski-in/ski-out resort’s upcoming 11,000sq ft signature Spa Montage.
The facility will feature 12 treatment rooms, including two for couples, alongside separate-sex changing areas with steamrooms and a dedicated indoor spa pool.
Montage’s in-house design, spa and retail team is leading the spa’s development and is planning to complete it with a salon and a Technogym-equipped fitness centre set against a backdrop of impressive mountain views.
Huey revealed that the group is planning to secure a spa director by Q2/3 2021 and that the spa menu is currently under development.
However, long-term Montage brand partners Valmont and Lola’s Apothecary are already on board to supply treatments.
“Our menu will feature our Montage Elements of Wellness Signature Treatments,” he said, “which will include some of our classic offerings including Fusion, Pure Bliss, Peace Within and California Wildflower Ritual.”
Guests will also be offered Montage’s classic two-hour facial – called The Masterpiece – powered by Valmont’s Swiss skincare products.
The entire resort is being designed by Hart Howertown architects in collaboration with interior design firm, Brayton Hughes, and will feature mountain modern design with aesthetics inspired by the natural setting and regional woods and stones.
The location will have easy access to the US' second-largest ski resort – called Big Sky Resort – offering 5,800 skiable acres and an 18-hole Tome Weiskopf-designed golf course.
It will also sit just 18 miles from the magnificent Yellowstone National Park, a vast wildlife haven containing the world largest concentration of geysers.
Additional facilities at Montage Big Sky will include 39 Montage Residences, a restaurant, communal lounge, market, outdoor grill, gastropub, ballroom, four bowling alleys and ski services.
The project represents one of Montage’s two current pipeline developments, including Montage Cay in the Bahamas.
