Dusit opens serene lakeside wellness resort with 18 hot spring pools in China |

Thai hotel group Dusit International has opened a brand new resort on the lower reaches of China’s Yangtze River and the shores of Lake Tai, in Suzhou.
Dusit Thani Wellness Resort Suzhou is located in a province known as the ‘Venice of the East,’ with canals, stone bridges, pagodas and meticulously designed gardens – which have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 175-key resort features one of Dusit’s signature Devarana Spas inspired by a distinct blend of Chinese and Thai healing techniques, including five Chinese sound therapy rooms each designed for specific treatments corresponding to the natural elements.
The 6,667sq m spa is also a luxury hot spring haven, and offers guests a choice between 15 different thermal pools, spread both indoors and outdoors.
Additional pools are incorporated into three of the spa’s five treatment rooms – comprising two couples’ rooms and three for single treatments – to facilitate private hydrotherapy experiences. After bathing, guests are invited to relax at the spa's warm jade lounger area, stone bath and Himalayan salt cavern.
Dusit complements the offering with a wide range of signature wellness treatments, supplied by its in-house Devarana Spa product line.
According to resort GM, Susan Zhang, the pandemic is causing the spa’s customer base to be drawn from 95 per cent domestic guests and only 5 per cent foreign tourists.
She explained the majority of these locals have come from Shanghai and Suzhou who have a particular interest in hot springs and health preservation.
From the luxurious hot springs experience, offering both aromatic and therapeutic pools, to the deluxe spa, gym and two restaurants serving customised wellness cuisine, every element of Dusit Thani Suzhou has been carefully crafted to promote the wellbeing of its guests.
To ensure guests can get the most out of the experience, the resort also offers a range of retreats that combine wellness with luxurious accommodation, fitness routines, nutritious meals and bathing.
Personalised retreats can last between two-to-14 days, depending on the preferences and aims of each guest.
