Marine spa specialist Thalgo has just introduced Iodalg, a capsule-based iodine supplement.
Research shows that most people have an insufficient daily intake of iodine - between about 20 and 40 micrograms rather than the recommended 150 - and those particularly affected include sportsmen and women, smokers, slimmers on an un-balanced diet and people on a salt-free diet, vegetarians, the elderly and pregnant, breast feeding and menopausal women.
The results of moderate iodine deficiency can be fatigue, cold intolerance and difficulty in losing weight, but the effects of a significant deficiency can be more serious, particularly so in pregnant women.
Iodalg, which comes in a box of 60 capsules, uses the original Thalgo patent on micronized marine algae and is designed to complement the ordinary daily intake of iodine, assist in weight loss and provide the micro-nutrients essential for a balanced diet.
Thalgo recommends that one capsule be taken per day at mealtime.
