Have your say: ClubIntel launches annual study to explore fitness trends
By Deven Pamben 22 Sep 2017
Cycling was identified as a mature trend in last year's report
Health and fitness club professionals and operators are being invited to take part in ClubIntel’s third annual international trends study, 'What’s All the Rage'.

The US-based research firm will explore the types of facilities and equipment, programmes, services and technologies that the industry offers customers.

More than 4,000 health club, leisure centres and gyms took part in the survey for the 2016 report, which provided insights into functional training equipment, virtual group exercise classes and fitness wearables. It also focused on niche trends such as holistic health services, medical spa services, EMS (electric muscle stimulation) training and physical therapy.

Last year, yoga and group cycling were identified as mature trends, while barre classes and fitness wearables were classified as emerging trends.

“This is the third year for the study and the responses will provide us with four years of hard data on global fitness industry trends,” said ClubIntel co-founder Stephen Tharrett.

“ClubIntel will continue to stay in front of fitness industry activity to capture trends that are either fast growing and new to the scene, in the high growth stage and are popular among operators, are what we consider mature, or in decline and on their way out.”

An executive summary of the 2017 International Health/Fitness Industry Trend Report – What’s All the Rage will be available in December.

Operators wishing to take part in the survey, which closes on 18 October, should click here.
