David Lloyd introduces new upsell – Delta small-group training

David Lloyd has launched Delta: a small-group training programme for members
The classes are designed for six to eight people
Delta is focused on boosting motivation and accountability
Classes are paid for in addition to membership
David Lloyd has introduced a small-group training programme called Delta to the range of classes it offers members. The sessions are designed for six to eight people and incorporate progressive programming techniques to motivate participants and help them achieve their fitness goals.

“With their combination of team spirit and expert coaching, it’s easy to see why group training classes are one of the most popular ways to stay fit,” said Jake French, GM at David Lloyd. “The benefits can be magnified when a group is working through a progressive programme, guided by an expert coach.”

Access to the small-group training classes requires an extra payment of £130 on top of a member’s standard membership package, but once paid, members can access as many sessions they like, with three a week being recommended. Each Delta class lasts an hour and the equipment varies each session but can include Ybells, barbells and weight plates, as well as cardio equipment such as rowing machines and assault bikes.

Once the warm-up is complete, the session progresses to mobility, using technique bars. A focus on fundamental movements follows with exercises including deadlifts, squats and power cleans. The main part of the session lasts up to 20 minutes and is built around a variety of exercises that build up strength, stamina and cardio capability. Every class ends with a warm-down.

According to David Lloyd’s class organisers, every session is different in order to build confidence in members, allowing them to break away from their standard gym routine. Small groups are well-placed to maximise motivational camaraderie and team bonding, which improves the chances of consistent training and achieving fitness targets.

“Working together in a small group means you have the opportunity to form stronger bonds and keep each other accountable and motivated as you receive one-on-one guidance from your coach,” added French.

Delta's small group training classes are currently available at 19 David Lloyd Clubs across the UK: Beaconsfield, Beckenham, Cheadle, Warrington, Manchester Trafford, Harrogate, Brighton, Worthing, Farnham, Brooklands, Sunderland, Finchley, Raynes Park, Northwood, Fulham, Leeds, Renfrew, Glasgow West End and Solihull Cranmore.

David Lloyd is planning to roll the programme out further across its network of UK clubs.
