An eco-resort encircled by a coral reef is being built on the Tetiaroa atoll, 35 miles from Tahiti in French Polynesia.
Overseen by the Tahiti Beachcomber SA company, The Brando resort will feature 47 bungalow villas with private plunge pools, a swimming pool and a large spa and wellness area.
Construction of the retreat is scheduled to be completed by late 2011.
Marlon Brando purchased the 13-island chain in 1965 with a view to developing a resort in partnership with his friend Richard Bailey, the chief executive of Tahiti Beachcomber SA. Bailey already owns four resorts in the region. Details: thebrando.com
