UK-based spa operator Champneys has completed the initial stage of the £14m redevelopment of its Tring site.
Phased in order to minimise disruption, the development of the Tring site has so far included the refurbishment of the gym; with the addition of a cardio-theatre fitness centre, two studios and four computerised personal health assessment rooms.
Other new features include new day changing and residential changing facilities, additional bedrooms, a new day guest reception and lounge, a 25-m swimming pool, a ladies’ laconium and a herbal steam chamber in the male spa area.
The second phase of redevelopment will include the redesign of the existing spa area and the addition of a number of new treatment rooms.
Elsewhere in the Champneys portfolio, a further £2m is to be invested in a redevelopment at Forest Mere, to include work on the main house, restaurant and lounge areas.
It was recently been reported that Champneys experienced pre-tax losses of £4.5m in the year to April 2004, following losses of £268,339 in the previous year.
