Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' latest flagship luxury hotel is to launch in the heart of Shanghai next June.

Jing An Shangri-La in West Shanghai is the cornerstone of the new Jing An Kerry Centre, a 450,000 sq m (4.8m sq ft) integrated complex with prime retail, office and residential space located in the Jing An District in Puxi, Shanghai.

The 508-room hotel overlooks the focal point of Jing An Kerry Centre - a 3,000-sq m (32,291 sq ft) piazza featuring pathways, gardens, water features and al fresco dining.

Guestrooms will occupy the top 29 floors of the hotel's 60-storey main tower, while restaurants, offices and retail shops will be located on the lower levels.

The hotel will house Shangri-La's signature CHI, The Spa.

The spa concept is based on the traditional Chinese philosophy, "chi" as the universal life force that governs wellbeing and personal vitality.

CHI, The Spa aims to create a sanctuary where holistic treatments are based on traditional methods shared by Asian cultures.

There will also be a state-of-the-art health club and a 25m heated indoor sky-dome lap pool.

Shangri-La CEO Greg Dogan said: "We set out to create a hotel that would be part of this vibrant community. We look forward to opening our doors to our many loyal guests, friends, Jing An neighbours, and the greater Shanghai community."

Dining options include Summer Palace serving Southeastern Chinese cuisine with Cantonese flair, while The 1515 WEST features an open-grill kitchen complemented by a raw bar.

The hotel will also house a two-level Café LIANG & mezzanine offering a gourmet international buffet dining experience. The café will feature main courses with a buffet and table service experience, while a la carte Japanese cuisine will be served on the mezzanine level.

Highlights include the hotel's Horizon Club Lounge, which takes up the entire 55th floor and offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Shanghai.

Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai is the third Shangri-La property in the city, joining the Pudong Shangri-La, opposite the Bund, Pudong, a luxury lifestyle hotel located near Century Park and the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
