Tourism agency VisitBritain revealed its plans to pilot a UK spa accreditation scheme at the recent London International Spa Convention.
The pilot has been based on qualitative research commissioned by VisitBritain and supported by the Spa Business Association and the British International Spa Association.
Researchers found that consumers would welcome a new accreditation scheme for UK spas.
The scheme – which is scheduled to be finalised by early next year – will consist of seven spa categories, namely hotel, natural, day, sport & fitness, resort, medi and salon, using 10 volunteer spas
per category. Details: www.spaassociation.org.uk
