A new, 50,000sq ft (4,650sq m) spa called Shanti Ananda Maurice is to open this December in Mauritius.
Situated within a tropical forest between Mauritius’ mountains and the Indian Ocean, the luxury new spa cost US$35m (£18.5m, 27m euro) to build.
It comprises 17 treatment rooms with specialised areas such as a salt-water pool for Watsu treatments. Other rooms include one for ayurvedic panchkarma, a couples suite, yoga pavilions, a series of hydrotherapy rooms and a heated lap pool.
Shanti Ananda’s treatments will combine indigenous Mauritian experiences and holistic properties with ayurveda, yoga and vedanta. Thalassotherapy, aromatherapy and Watsu techniques will also be utilised.
Signature experiences will be offered from the Shanti Ananda Spice health and wellbeing programme, which combines specialist therapies with rejuvenating workshops.
Designed by Chandu Chadda of Hong Kong-based Chadda, Siembieda and Associates, the spa will use ESPA for beauty treatments and its own brand products for ayurvedic and other therapies.
Shanti Ananda Maurice is the second spa to open under the Ananda brand, following the September 2000 opening of the flagship 21,000sq ft (1,950sq m) Ananda – In the Himalayas property.
A spokesperson for Ananda said: “We will continue to look at new opportunities and may come up with more Ananda properties as and when we find opportunities.” Details: www.shantiananda.com
