| Viceroy to anchor Vietnam's Cocobay entertainment hub |
|

The hotel will be designed as twin towers, adjoined at the top by a 'crystal bridge'

US-based Viceroy Hotel Group will operate a flagship luxury hotel at the Cocobay entertainment and hospitality hub, currently under development in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Located on the banks of the Coco River, the 700-room Viceroy Da Nang Vietnam will be the group’s first property in Asia and is set to open in 2020.
The hotel will have a significant health and wellbeing offer, with a full-service spa, a “wellness oasis” and a number of outdoor pools flanked by private cabanas. Exact details of the spa and its treatment focus will be confirmed closer to the opening date.
Other facilities include eight restaurants and a wide range of events space – including three ballrooms.
The hotel will be designed as twin towers, adjoined at the top by a "crystal bridge" on which guests can take in panoramic views of Da Nang and the ocean.
"This is Viceroy's first foray into Asia's most highly-anticipated market, which is being created from the ground up," said Anton Bawab, regional president of Viceroy Hotel Group.
The property will be part of the Cocobay entertainment master plan, which features a convention center, opera house, sports arena, beach club, retail stores and numerous nightlife and dining destinations.
Cocobay is being developed by Vietnamese property company Empire Group.
Bill Walshe, CEO of Viceroy Hotel Group, said; “We are immensely proud to partner with Empire Group on this remarkable venture.”
The Vietnam opening is part of Viceroy’s plans to expand into the Middle East and Asia, away from its core North American and South American markets. The group currently operates 13 hotels and resorts – two of which are outside the Americas.
"As we forge new territory we are not just making an entrance,” Walshe said. “We are shaping a vision while creating a new groundbreaking destination."
Earlier this year, Viceroy announced it had secured a management deal to operate a 477-room luxury property at the Jumeirah resort in Dubai, which is on schedule to open this spring.
Other properties in its pipeline include Viceroy Princes' Islands in Istanbul, Turkey – which is set to open in 2018 – and Viceroy Bocas del Toro Panama (2019) and Viceroy at Ombria Resort in Portugal (2019).
Viceroy is now 50 per cent owned by Mubadala, the investment vehicle of the government of Abu Dhabi.
