G.M. Collin releases Dark Spot Serum for hyperpigmentation
By Helen Andrews 11 Jun 2025
94 per cent of clinical trial participants saw a reduction in hyperpigmentation Credit: GM Collin

G.M. Collin has launched a Dark Spot Serum that uses active ingredients to target hyperpigmentation including dark spots and signs of ageing.

The new formula is designed to fade the appearance of persistent pigmentation, help prevent the appearance of new age spots without causing irritation, brighten and improve the clarity of the complexion while reducing visible signs of ageing.

G.M. Collin formulated this product knowing that hyperpigmentation is one of the most common concerns addressed in dermatology offices. Clients seek solutions to the appearance of pigmented spots, often in sun-exposed areas that are caused by an overproduction of melanin (the pigment responsible for the colour of the skin and hair). An imbalance in melatonin can accumulate in spots, disrupting the uniformity of the skin’s radiance and its texture.

The brand conducted a clinical trial for its serum on 45 volunteers with an average age of 62 years, using the product for 28 days. Ninety-four per cent of participants saw a reduction in hyperpigmentation, 87 per cent saw a reduction of red areas and 83 per cent saw a reduction in the appearance of dark spots.

G.M. Collin’s serum includes the following ingredients:

• Tranexamic acid (which minimises the appearance of hyperpigmentation),
• Niacinamide (to improve the skin’s moisture barrier),
• Kojic acid complex (to help prevent ageing effects),
• Mondara didyma leaf extract (to fade both dark and white spots),
• Azelaic acid derivative (for moisturisation),
• Licorice extract (to minimise the appearance of dark spots),
• Sirhamnose (to improve the firmness of the skin)
• Prickly pear flower extract (for exfoliation).

Myriam Sayer, VP, G.M. Collin, said: “Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common skin concerns that affects all skin types. By incorporating the latest skincare innovations, we’ve developed a product that delivers results as effective as those with hydroquinone, without its associated risks. This makes it the perfect, simple solution for hyperpigmentation in any skincare routine. Our commitment to providing safe, effective and innovative skincare solutions is reflected in this new product, which combines advanced technology with a focus on skin wellness.
