Swiss skincare company La Prairie has revealed its Pure Gold Revitalising Essence.
The Essence is a soothing formula that joins the company’s densifying and nourishing Pure Gold collection for age-related hormonal changes that affect the skin.
The new solution is designed to treat extreme dryness, density loss, dullness, age spots and uneven skin – all of which the brand says are the result of a decline in oestrogen levels and lack of peptide synthesis as people age.
Dr Jacqueline Hill, director of strategic innovation and science at La Prairie, said: “The decline in oestrogen that affects women at various stages of their lives leads to many different negative consequences, particularly during menopause.
"At the level of the skin, loss of collagen is among the most recognised issues," added Dr Hill. "However, other changes, such as thinner skin, decreased hydration and impaired barrier function, lead to discomfort, which can be severe and affect the mood. This is why we developed a revitalising essence with soothing and comforting benefits as the first step of our Pure Gold Collection.”
Ingredients include La Prairie’s Cellular Complex, its Gold and Peptide-Powered Meno Complex and time-released Glabridin.
The lightweight golden serum features soothing and hydrating properties and its fragrance combines floral notes with white musks.
The product is applied to the face and neck, morning and evening, after cleansing and toning. It is designed to be paired with the brand’s Pure Gold Radiance Cream.
Gold used in the formula is procured through a partnership with the Swiss Better Gold Association, supporting artisanal miners who pan for gold in rivers with minimal ecological impact. Additionally, La Prairie’s ongoing commitment to sustainability has meant the glass vessel for the Revitalising Essence is recyclable.
The Pure Gold Revitalising Essence retails for US$530 (€450, £390) for a 130ml bottle.
