Integrative wellness brand, 001 London, has released the Thermal Hormone Balance Acu-Patch.
The brand's founder, Ada Ooi, who has a clinic in London's Harley Street, has combined Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbs with self-heating mineral technology in a patch that is designed to deliver gentle, sustained warmth – inspired by moxibustion rituals and thermotherapy.
Ada Ooi, integrative medicine practitioner and founder of 001 London, told Spa Business: "Together, these herbal actives work synergistically with the warming mechanism to ease physical symptoms while supporting the HPA axis (the body’s central stress and hormone regulation system). This reduces neuroinflammation – a type of low-grade inflammation in the nervous system that may show up as fatigue, heightened ache sensitivity, mood fluctuations and sleep disruption.
“Consistent usage helps the body ‘remember’ its rhythm,” added Ooi. “Healing and prevention happen when the body feels safe, warm and strengthened. This patch is a modern ritual informed by thousands of years of Eastern wisdom, proven daily in our clinic with both men and women seeking hormone care, fertility support and emotional balance."
The patches are applied to clean skin on the navel, lower abdomen or lower back. The thermal effect begins in roughly ten minutes. It is designed to be worn for 30 minutes to four hours – or until the warmth fades.
The five signature herbs within the patch include mugwort, which is used in TCM to dispel cold and promote smooth energy flow. Niu Xi (Achyranthes) is described as good for easing lower body tension and hormonal stagnation. Bai Zhi (white angelica) is often used to replenish and harmonise the body’s hormones. Ginger provides warmth, safflower is included to ease discomfort and motherwort is seen as a herb that can support emotional equilibrium.
They are suitable for both men and women and are said to promote circulation, ease tension and support hormonal balance.
A box of seven patches has a retail price of £35 (US$44, €41).
