Swissline has unveiled a new product in its Cell Shock range called Lip and Contour Repair Cream, designed to replenish lip volume.
The formula contains pure hydroxyproline, which the brand describes as the singular amino acid responsible for collagen structure in skin.
Upon application, the ingredient is said to signal the skin to activate its own repair mechanisms to reinforce elasticity and visibly reduce fine lines.
This is the first time Swissline has used the isolated amino acid in one of its products.
Custodio d’Avo, global brand director, Swissline, said: “Hydroxyproline is the one amino acid found exclusively in the collagen structure of our skin – it doesn’t occur in any other protein – which is why its role in repair has always fascinated me.
“The skin recognises broken fragments as a signal to build, renew, and recover, which leads to an increased expression of hydroxyproline. This, in turn, helps trigger the skin’s natural repair mechanisms.”
The formula's hydroxyroline is combined with Swissline’s Cellactel 2 Complex, marine collagen, ceramides, squalane and natural emollient butters – including shea and mango.
The cream has been crafted to provide smoother, firmer, plumper and more hydrated lips if applied regularly. Vertical fine lines are said to become visibly diminished.
The product has a recommended retail price of £112 (US$141, €131).
