Marriott International has signed management contracts for the 204-room Renaissance Tlemcen in Algeria and the 237-room Kigali Marriott Hotel in Rwanda.
The Renaissance Tlemcen is scheduled to open in January 2011, owned by Societe d'Investissement Hotelier and - when it opens - will be the first Marriott International-flagged hotel in Algeria. Facilities are to include a health and leisure club, an outdoor swimming pool, two tennis courts, a business centre, gift shop and prayer room.
It will also offer two 7,340sq ft (682sq m) ballrooms, two meeting rooms and a boardroom.
The hotel is the first of three properties planned for Algeria by Marriott International, the other two being the 227-room Algiers Marriott and the 180-unit Marriott Executive Apartments Algiers, both expected to open in 2012.
The Kigali Marriott, the company's first property in Rwanda, has a planned 2012 opening date and is owned by New Century Development.
Facilities will include all-day and speciality restaurants, a pool grill, a health and leisure club, an outdoor swimming pool and an outdoor whirlpool. Elsewhere will be a 500sq m (5,382sq ft) ballroom, meeting rooms and a boardroom.
