Marriott International is growing its St.Regis' brand presence in Mexico in 2022, with the upcoming opening of St. Regis Kanai Resort.
Located on the Mayan Riviera, the oceanfront resort will feature a sophisticated design with 124 guest rooms and suites, as well as 32 villas with private pools.
Architectural firm Edmonds International will bring the resort to life drawing inspiration from the geometry of the local mangroves and the constellation Pleiades – known as the celestial birthplace of the Mayans.
The resort will be split into intersecting circles built from white concrete and reflective semi-transparent crystal.
Guests will be able to escape to a signature eight-treatment-room St. Regis Spa featuring a steamroom, plunge pools, foot baths and separate male and female relaxation lounges.
Treatment highlights will range from Ayurvedic rituals to massage lessons, as well as a selection of couple’s experiences, hair and scalp treatments, scrubs, facials, wraps and paraffin hand rituals.
Beauty services for makeup and nails will also be available alongside a fitness centre decked out with cardiovascular equipment and free weights.
According to Marriott's global head of spa Kenneth Ryan, the company is preparing a new major spa concept for its St. Regis hospitality brands.
In an
exclusive interview with
Spa Business, he revealed that the new concept – called St. Regis Spa – will be rolled out to all St. Regis hotels (currently 44 destinations), with the first unveiling launched at the St. Regis Bermuda Resort in June 2021.
The bigger pictureOpening later this year, St. Regis Kanai Resort will be the second property to open within the new 680-acre Mexican multi-resort complex named Kanai.
Kanai is a gated community nestled among a jungle and mangrove reserve that’s been designed to respect its natural surroundings and take up only 9 per cent of the location once finished.
Expected to be completed in 2025, Kanai will encompass four luxury hotels and a selection of branded residences.
The first hotel in the complex opened earlier this year,
Etéreo Auberge Resorts Collection, complete with a luxury wellness sanctuary inspired by Mayan mysticism.
The third property has been confirmed as an Edition while the fourth is yet to be announced.
St. Regis plans to further expand its Mexican portfolio in 2023 with the launch of St. Regis Los Cabos Resort. The property will open with 120 rooms and 60 residences, as well as a luxury spa, golf course, beach club and three dining experiences.
