Biologique Recherche to accelerate international growth with strategic plan
By Megan Whitby 15 Nov 2019
Biologique Recherche plans to expand its global reach as part of a "new phase for the business".
The French skincare brand’s current owners and co-presidents – Pierre-Louis Delapalme, Rupert Schmid and Phillipe Allouche (son of the brand’s original founders) – have created a long-term strategic alliance with three European "family offices".
The Van Rappard Family, the Descours Family and the Frère Family have all been brought on board to accompany the brand’s growth within the market. Overall, Biologique Recherche is now owned by an alliance of seven families.
Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, former chair and CEO of the Nestlé Group, has also been appointed as non-executive chair of Biologie Recherche’s board of directors.
Schmid and Delapalme told Spa Business: “We are happy and proud that our company has attracted such a great team of successful entrepreneurs to support us.
“We are a client-centric business and organisation, thus making our decision to partner with family-led partners an integral part of our future.”
Brabeck-Letmathe said: “I will help our two co-presidents accelerate international expansion while reinvesting in the team, research and development and product innovation.
“It is our intention to establish Biologique Recherche as a global leader on the top tier of the professional dermatological wellness market.”
The formation of the alliance was advised by Credit Suisse.
Biologique Recherche skincare products are concentrated in botanical, marine and active ingredients and are supplied to over 80 countries.
