A CHI-branded spa has opened on its own exclusive island within the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru resort at Kota Kinabalu in the Malaysian state of Sabah.
The 44,788sq ft (4,161sq m) retreat is situated in a landscaped tropical garden with a canopy of rainforest and banyan trees. The spa comprises five individual villas – one with full wheelchair access – plus three couples’ villas and a yoga pavilion, all sea-facing and located on Pulau Bayu, the resort’s private island.
Spa treatments will use the CHI Private Label Range and the Futuresse skincare range from Germany-based Biodroga company. There will also be therapeutic and lifestyle consultation on offer, as well as yoga classes.
Signature therapies include CHI balance and a Himalayan healing stone massage. A range of spa rituals are also available, using natural ingredients sourced from Borneo, such as a volcanic mud wrap, using ingredients specially harvested from Lahad Datu, a planters’ town on the east coast of Sabah.
There is also a spa boutique offering CHI-branded products and a range of spa cuisine on offer at Coco-Joe’s and Café Tatu.
