UK spa group Champneys is to extend its offering to Marbella in Spain in association with Savills and Mirage Spa Resort Development.
The new property, called Champneys Marbella, will be set on a mountainside location and contain both a spa retreat and apartments.
The spa will feature 25 treatment rooms, sauna, steam chambers and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool as well as a café.
The development is situated minutes away from the Mediterranean Sea and around a 15 minute drive from the centre of Marbella. It is scheduled to open in 2010.
Elsewhere within the group, the expansion of Champneys’ urban boutique spa concept continues with the launch of a site in Tunbridge Wells with two further spas planned to open in July in Brighton and Bath.
Each Town and City spa costs between £300,000 (442,580 euro, US$611,000) and £600,000 (885,165 euro, US$1.2m) to create
and averages seven treatment rooms.
The UK rollout of the city spa brand is anticipated to take in a total of 50 new spas opening within five years. There will be 12 more day spas opening in 2009.
