DP Architects and interior design specialists Ilya Corporation have joined up to create the Woodleigh Residences – a sprawling, Zen-inspired living community in Singapore.
Situated amidst the 10-hectare Biddari Park and the privately accessible Alkaff Lake, the new housing development will boast 667 two- to four-bedroom condos, a swimming pool, and various Japanese-style wellness amenities, including an onsen spa, meditation pavilions, and tatami rooms.
Other features of the property will include children's play areas, a gym, an urban farm, and two 5,000 sq m fields with cycling and hiking paths.
According to the Woodleigh master plan, the neighbourhood will be shaped in accordance with the "Japanese principles of intelligent space maximisation".
Keisuke Koshijima, executive vice president of Kajima Corporation – the site's co-developer – said: "Our development will be synonymous with the kind of Japanese design and quality that you will get in Tokyo."
He added: "Over the years when units got smaller in Japan, the industry developed many Japanese techniques and technologies to make smaller spaces 'bigger', and we believe that with our proven experience, we can use these efficient space maximisation technologies to enhance the living experience in Singapore."
The highly anticipated scheme, which is being billed as the city-state's first garden community, is expected to be completed in 2022.
The residences will be surrounded by a bio-diverse sanctuary of meadows and woodland.
