The Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, California, US, is to add a 12,000sq ft (1,115sq m) luxury spa to its facilities.
Launching in August 2008, the spa will feature 10 treatment rooms – each with an outdoor shower and plunge pool, private garden, personal sauna, steam and Swiss shower.
A studio for yoga and pilates will also be built alongside three luxury residential spa suite guestrooms, offering in-room treatments with sauna and steam facilities.
Spa therapies will draw inspiration from both Asian and European methods.
US architectural firm Leo A Daly will design the two-storey spa, which will be created in keeping with the hotel’s original character, featuring traditional Spanish Colonial-style architecture, pink stucco exteriors and red tile roofs.
Interior décor will feature hardwood floors and private terraces while the surrounding terraced gardens will feature oversized whirlpools, plunge pools, a lounging area and fountains.
