Burton College’s beauty salon, Innovations, has re-opened, offering students the opportunity to hone their skills by working in a realistic salon environment.
The students will be offering a wide variety of treatments including manicures, pedicures, electrolysis and non-surgical facelifts as well as a host of holistic treatments such as reflexology, aromatherapy and Indian head massage.
Lecturer Jill Gooch said: “Innovations offers a first class training environment for the trainees, showing exactly what working in a real salon is like.
“It also provides a valuable service for the local community as clients are given a professional service with top quality products at affordable prices.”
The 204sq m salon – designed by interior designer REM – is only operated during term-time and was part of a £7m redevelopment project at the College last year. The salon has three training rooms with nine treatment beds and six work stations.
Innovations is open for clients on Monday mornings and Tuesday afternoons, although more sessions will be introduced over the next few months. Details: www.burton-college.ac.uk
