The Nile Hotel in Uganda, east Africa, has relaunched as the Kampala Serena Hotel and Maisha spa following an extensive redevelopment.
In January 2004, the Nile Hotel was leased to Serena Hotels and, over the next 17 months, the property underwent a US$30.5m (£15.9m, 23.6m euro) refurbishment, which included the addition of the Maisha Spa.
The 1,820sq m (19,590sq ft) spa is situated in a two-storey terracotta building, complete with a rooftop sun terrace.
There are six treatment rooms, four of which boast individual showers.
Therapies will include massages, facials, body wraps and scrubs with holistic massages offered using both Eastern and Western disciplines.
Other spa facilities include a steamroom, sauna, a gym, ice plunge pools and mineral water fountains.
Serena Hotels now plans to roll out the Maisha spa brand, which is the group’s own concept, to two locations in Rwanda. Details: www.serenahotels.com
