A large spa has opened as part of the new Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico, north of Playa Del Carmen on the Yucatan peninsula in South America.
The 25,000sq ft (2,322sq m) spa draws inspiration from Mayan philosophy, blended with Asian healing rituals.
There are 11 treatment rooms at the spa, including three VIP couples suites.
A combination of spa, beauty and heat experiences will be available, using Aromatherapy Associates products.
The offering will also include a rasul, hammam, vitality and watsu pools.
The resort is set on 36 acres of land which includes protected mangrove reserves and a cenote – a deep, freshwater reservoir sacred to the ancient Mayan people.
