Spas at Mandarin Oriental properties around the world celebrated
Global Wellness Day on Saturday 14th June – an initiative founded by Belgin Aksoy 12 years ago to promote the power of wellness.

Mandarin Oriental offered treatments and activities that align with the five pillars of this year’s theme #ReconnectMagenta:

• Reconnect with Mother Nature: Spas offered outdoor meditation sessions, forest bathing walks and eco-conscious spa treatments such as marine-based facials and grounding barefoot rituals.
• Reconnect with Self: Tailored guided journaling were on offer at some properties, as were one-on-one mindfulness coaching and silent tea ceremonies – in line with the Group’s holistic and introspective approach to wellness.
• Reconnect with Family and Friends: Activities based on this pillar included family-inclusive yoga flow sessions, wellness picnics and shared treatments in spa suites to encourage quality time spent together.
• Reconnect with Community: Some properties partnered with local artisans and wellness experts, to offer guests complimentary workshops and donation-based events to support regional charities.
• Reconnect with Longevity: Workshops offered guests a chance to explore their emotional resilience, energy-based therapies and the Group’s collection of signature treatments rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic principles.

Mandarin Oriental is also expanding its Digital Wellness Initiative, offering guests the tools to manage their digital relationships following the Group’s successful programme of Tech Detox Escapes. Guests are encouraged to unplug and step away from their devices in order to participate in screen-free activities.

“This year’s Global Wellness Day theme is a natural evolution of Mandarin Oriental’s wellness philosophy,” said Jeremy McCarthy, group director of spa and wellness. “We believe that true wellbeing begins with reconnection – to the self, to our communities and to the world around us. Our experiences are designed not only to inspire but to transform.”

Mandarin Oriental also provided guests with take-home rituals, wellness products and access to expert-led tutorials via its digital platform to help them sustain their wellbeing journey.
