The Wellness Tourism Association (WTA) is gearing up to host its fourth annual International Wellness Tourism Conference (IWTC) at Chablé Maroma in Riviera Maya, Mexico, from 19-21 November.
This year’s conference will address key topics relevant to current wellness tourism professionals, as well as individuals, businesses and organisations interested in exploring this expanding sector.
The WTA has announced that Alfredo Bataller – CEO of respected Spanish wellness brand SHA Wellness – will headline the event as a keynote speaker. Drawing on his experience leading his family’s health brand since 2008, Bataller will share insights on cutting-edge medical wellness practices.
2024 has been a significant year for SHA Wellness, marking the launch of its first international location
in Mexico after 15 years of establishing its pioneering preventative facility in Alicante, Spain.
Renowned for its holistic approach, SHA Wellness combines anti-ageing and genetic medicine with natural therapies. It is now expanding globally in response to growing consumer interest in health and wellness.
In his
interview with Spa Business, SHA VP Alejandro Bataller revealed that the aim is to have SHA Wellness Clinics on all continents in the next 10 years. And construction is already well underway for SHA Emirates, a further property
due to open in Abu Dhabi in 2026.
Additional speakers set to attend the IWTC include physician Dr Ron Kapp, attorney Kyle Zelaznyr and hospitality consultant and entrepreneur Dr Kerissa Kuis.
Topics on the agenda will cover the future of medical wellness and innovation within the sector, legal complexities in travel and how the hospitality industry can enhance guest journeys with wellness programming.
