Six Senses group has opened its first spa in China at the MGM Grand Macau, located on the waterfront on the Macau peninsula.
The spa design has followed a theme using the five elements – fire, water, earth, wood and metal – in order for guests to travel through their own sensory spa journey.
The facility includes 12 treatment rooms, a vitality pool and a large flotation pool which uses colour therapy technology and has a salt level of 27 per cent in order to produce a similar effect to that of the Dead Sea.
Other notable features of the spa include vitality pools, air loungers complete with ocean views and snow cabins.
Specialist treatments include Tuina (traditional Chinese acupressure) as well as shiatsu, Balinese and Thai-inspired therapies.
Elsewhere within the group, the first property under the new Six Senses Destination Spa brand will open in the middle of this year, off the coast of Phuket in Thailand.
The property will have 61 pool villas and a 32,291sq ft (3,000sq m) spa.
